Photo Love: HONEYVERSERY

I originally found these pictures via the 'HAPPINESS IS...' blog.  They are a photoshoot taken by a couple, Tim & Mer to celebrate their honeyversary in Palm Springs.
I absolutely love the vintage/retro feel to them.  It's so cute & unique.

Now those who know me, know I am not a very girly or romantic person.  Oh sure I have my moments but in general, the gushy stuff just isn't for me.  These pictures, however, kind of make me squeal a little inside.  Particularly the one above of them watching the movie on the reel with their hands entwined.

Check out the rest of the lovely photo's as well as the rest of Mer & Tim's work over at 'SWEET LITTLE PHOTOGRAPHS'.  I'm in love with their pinup girl photoshoots!

Typewriting Dreams

 >source<
Sometimes I think that the one thing I need in my life is a vintage typewriter to work on.  The concept is so romantic.  The ringing of the keys.  The fresh ink as it hits the paper.  All while sitting at a desk next to the window that overlooks a hazy, summery field.  [I don't know why but that setting is always what I envision.]  Maybe if I had an old typewriter it would inspire me to finally finish one of the many novels or screenplays I've started over the years.
Then reality sets in I remember how many spelling errors I make when typing, how many times I change my mind on a sentences format.  I think I'd use up the world supply of paper, not to mention my patience.
No, I think for story writing I shall stick to my trusty laptop.  Still though, it would be nice to have a typewriter to play around with.  Perhaps write some letters and notes.
[Those of you looking for a late birthday or early christmas present for me take note.]

Sharon Springs

Yesterday, I went with my parents to Sharon Springs for an art show along the main street.  Sharon Springs has always been one of my favorite small villages to visit.  It was best known for its mineral baths back in its hayday but has since dropped off the map.  Still, I love its desolate charm.  The area has so much history to it.  The buildings are gorgeous!  [Not to mention it is also home to some of my favorite places to eat, The American Hotel & The Black Cat Cafe.]

The craft show was great & the weather perfect for wandering about main street.  My favorite purchase of the day was a 'tacky' bag for $5.   Well, the woman called it tacky but I simply loved it.  How could I not with deer fabric & glitter on it!

Sadly, I didn't manage to take any pictures of the festival being I hurt my neck that morning so walking around was about all I could muster.  I'm taking a friend back soon though so I'll be sure to take some photos then.

The Clock Is Ticking

Graduation is fast approaching!  I can't believe how my time at college has just flown by.  It feels like I just got here for crying out loud!

Yesterday, I went & picked up my cap & gown at the bookstore.  I think trying that on was the clicker for me.  This is really happening!  In two days I will be getting my diploma [Well, an empty fake diploma holder.  The real one gets shipped home.] and saying goodbye to the place that, as much as I have cursed it, has been my home for the past 4 years.  As much as I can't wait to go somewhere else a part of me is a little sad to see this part of my life end.

On a cheerier note, the shoes I bought for graduation came today as well.  A pair of teal, vintage jelly's from the 80's.  Courtesy of PeppermintThrift on etsy.  I tried them on yesterday and they fit perfectly and are so comfy.  I can't wait to wear them Saturday!
I'm too lazy to take a picture of my own and upload it currently so here's the picture of them from PeppermintThrift.  I have to say I was a little weary of buying vintage online when I couldn't see the quality for myself but PeppermintThrift was great.  Their products are in great condition, the prices reasonable, and the delivery was super fast!  I highly recommend them.

Foals Newborn Album

A day late for Tuesday tunes but I just couldn't wait till next week to post this.  The UK group Foals are releasing their second album.  Sadly, it is only available in the UK as of right now.  Lame old U.S. of A will have to wait till June for the full thing.  Until then though, 'The Maroon Cafe' has an audio of their new single Blue Blood.  You can check it out here.

Foals was first formed back in 2008 where they released their first album called 'Antidotes'.  Their sound is a unique mix of indie rock & alternative dance with a little bit of everything else thrown in there.  I discovered them a couple of months ago but was just reminded of my love for them with the release of their new single.

I think it's safe to say that I will be listening to 'Antidotes' quite a bit in the coming month till June arrives and I can get their new album.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

This past week has been so nice.  Its such a change not to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off attempting massive amounts of projects.  I still have lots to get done but at least now I have some time to enjoy friends and our final week together.  It's so weird to think that this time next week I'll be a college grad.  Eek!

Yesterday, I went on a wine tour held by our college for our senior class.  Five wineries in one day...  quite the adventure!  My one friend and I bought a few wines and [most exciting of all!] some cheeses so we can sample and have a wine & cheese night soon.  I have to say I'm very excited for this.

Well now I'm off to celebrate roomie's birthday with sushi & Iron Man II.  Whoot!
